Afrimoney support East End Lions fc with NLe 150,000 for CAF campaign

Africell and Afrimoney Sierra Leone have donated Le150,000 to East End Lions Football Club as the club prepares to represent Sierra Leone in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup. The financial support was presented on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, as the club intensifies preparations for its upcoming continental campaign.
Speaking during the presentation, Afrimoney Chief Executive Officer Martison Obeng-Agyei reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting development of sports in Sierra Leone and pledged the companies’ continued support to initiatives that contribute to the growth of the country’s sporting sector. According to him, Afrimoney and Africell see sports as an important avenue for empowering young people and promoting Sierra Leone’s image beyond its borders
Mr. Obeng-Agyei said Africell and Afrimoney will support East End Lions throughout the competition. He urged the players to remain focused, disciplined and determined as they prepare to represent both the club and Sierra Leone on the continental stage. The presentation was made in the presence of Africell Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Shadi Gergerwi, as well as staff of Africell and Afrimoney Sierra Leone.
Receiving the support on behalf of East End Lions, the club’s Secretary General, Alpha Jalloh Esq., expressed appreciation to Africell and Afrimoney for their continued partnership and contribution to the growth and development of the club. Mr. Jalloh said the funding would help the club meet some of the key expenses associated with its continental campaign, including travel, accommodation, venue arrangements and other logistical requirements.
With the first-leg fixture scheduled to be played in Abidjan and the return leg expected to take place at the SKD Stadium in Liberia, the East End Lions Secretary General said the support had come at a crucial time as the club steps up preparations for its CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
He described the partnership with Africell and Afrimoney as an important one for the club, particularly at a time when East End Lions is preparing to compete at a higher level of African club football.
The support is expected to contribute to the club’s preparations as East End Lions seeks to make a strong impression in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup and fly the flag of Sierra Leone on the continental stage.
